Waiting list

Hiya everyone. Sorry I've not been around. I've had a rough few weeks but I wanted to tell you all that I've been put on the waiting list to be seen by a trauma specialist. This is such great news for me. I believe I was deeply damaged by my childhood and it's never been spoken about. I am now 50 years old and I feel ready to confront my awful upbringing and I hope to find some inner peace and acceptance. I know that it will be a difficult process but I'm ready to face it. All I have to do now is wait.

Remember that at some point, not straight away, and depending on the specialist you talk with, they will probe you for information, especially if it’s a psychologist. Try not to be intimidated by this and remember that THEY are there to help YOU.

It’s tempting to recoil and clam up when the prospect of talking about intimate and private details is requested of us, but it’s important to remember that in order for them to help you, at some point you will have to discuss things and accept feelings and thoughts you might have buried within you.

This is an extremely emotional experience and don’t be surprised if some unexpected emotions present themselves in unexpected ways.

Feel free to message me if you want to talk about the process of how it works and what you can expect.

Agree with this, also it can take some time to open up, I know when I was in therapy it took me 6 months to feel I was able to trust her.
Also it can be distressing at first.
