Thought I'd ask here if anyone has catathrenia? Some nurses asked me if I had it 4 years ago after one of my surgeries and I didn't know. Since then I've been trying to pay attention to myself at night for noises since my husband has elbowed me and told me I'm making noises. He never said I snored...just noises. So now I've realized that when I sleep, I can inhale okay but then I tense up, hold my breath and let it out slowly causing various sounds to be made. That's the classic description of catathrenia. It's not life threatening like sleep apnea is because the brain is choosing to hold the breath and oxygen is not lost.
